One of the most common questions we get at Divine Printing is: "What size banner do I need?" The answer depends on where it's being displayed, how far away viewers will be, and what message you're communicating. Here's a practical guide.
Outdoor Church Banners
For outdoor use — mounted on a building facade, fence, or between poles — size matters for visibility:
- Building facade / street-facing: 3ft x 6ft to 4ft x 8ft minimum. Viewers are typically 20-50 feet away.
- Parking lot / fence banners: 2ft x 4ft to 3ft x 6ft work well for close-range visibility.
- Pole banners: 2ft x 6ft is the most common standard for outdoor pole-mounted displays.
Rule of thumb: For every 10 feet of viewing distance, add 1 inch of letter height. A banner viewed from 50 feet needs letters at least 5 inches tall.
Lobby and Indoor Banners
- Retractable roll-up banners: 33" x 79" (85 x 200cm) is the industry standard.
- Fabric wall banners: 2ft x 5ft or 3ft x 6ft for sanctuary walls and altar areas.
- Welcome banners: 2ft x 4ft placed at eye level near entryways.
Stage and Backdrop Banners
- Small stage (under 12ft wide): 8ft x 4ft backdrop
- Medium stage (12-20ft wide): 12ft x 6ft to 16ft x 8ft
- Large stage / crusade stage: 20ft x 8ft or wider
Always measure your stage width before ordering. We print up to 10 x 20ft on a single piece.
Yard Signs
- Standard yard sign: 18" x 24" — fits standard wire stakes, most common size.
- Large yard sign: 24" x 36" for higher-traffic areas where more visibility is needed.
